L’Africa torna ad essere rappresentata al Festival Internazionale del Circo. Annunciato inoltre un nuovo numero dalla Colombia.
Con i numeri oggi ufficialmente ammessi alla dodicesima edizione, appare sempre più marcata la connotazione multiculturale del Festival Internazionale del Circo “Città di Latina”.
Sono oltre 350 le candidature fino ad oggi pervenute negli uffici di Produzione del Festival Internazionale del Circo “Città di Latina”. Giungono dai 5 continenti e coprono l’intero panorama delle discipline circensi. La Commissione incaricata di vagliare la qualità tecnica ed artistica dei candidati ha oggi sciolto la riserva su due numeri che vengono ammessi ufficialmente alla dodicesima edizione del Festival: gli artisti che hanno superato questa prima difficile selezione giungeranno a Latina dall’America e dall’Africa e rappresenteranno due discipline assai differenti tra loro: il contorsionismo ed il globo della morte.
La Repubblica del Sud Africa è rappresentata dal numero di contorsionismo della giovane ventenne Lunga. Nata a Johannesburg, l’artista africana ha intrapreso la propria carriera artistica alla tenera età di dieci anni, ed ha già avuto l’opportunità di perfezionare le proprie doti artistiche nei sei anni che ha trascorso negli Stati Uniti, fino a meritare importanti piazzamenti in Festival internazionali. La straordinaria flessibilità di Lunga è risultata nettamente riconoscibile fin dalla sua infanzia quando, anche durante il sonno, assumeva posizioni così inconsuete da suggerire l’opportunità di condurre indagini radiografiche. Le sue uniche doti di flessibilità le sono valse l’appellativo di “donna serpente”.
of Speed consiste di otto spericolati motociclisti, tutti colombiani, di età compresa tra i 22 ed i 33 anni. La loro esibizione è di quelle che tengono lo spettatore con il fiato sospeso: all’interno di una sfera d’acciaio del diametro di , gli otto giovani artisti a bordo delle loro motociclette danno vita ad acrobazie al limite dell’immaginabile raggiungendo la velocità di . La colonna sonora realizzata dal suono degli otto motori accompagna evoluzioni durante le quali anche un piccolo errore può risultare pericoloso.

is represented once again at the International Circus Festival. New number from also announced.
The multicultural nature of the International Circus Festival “City of ” is further underlined with the two new numbers for the twelfth edition announced today.
So far this year, the production office of the International Circus Festival “City of ” has received over 350 applications from artists wishing to participate in the upcoming 12th edition. Requests have arrived from all five continents, and cover the entire panorama of circus disciplines. The selection committee, whose job it is to evaluate the artistic and technical qualities of each artist, today announce two more numbers that have been officially added to the list of participating acts for the twelfth edition of the Festival. The two acts that have been successful in this first difficult selection come from and , and represent two very different disciplines: Contortionism and the ‘Globe of Death’.
The is represented by twenty-year-old Lunga in a contortionism number. Born in , this African artist began her artistic career at the age of ten and has, during the last six years spent in the , had ample opportunity to develop her artistic talents, gaining significant placings at a number of International Festivals. The surprising flexibility of Lunga was evident from a very young age when, even while sleeping, her body would assume such curious positions that she was later the subject of clinical tests and X-rays. Her unique natural flexibility has earned her the nickname ‘Snake-Girl’.
The Globe of Speed troupe consists of eight fearless motorcyclists, all Colombian, with ages ranging from 22 to 33. During their breathtaking number, these eight young motorcyclists and their bikes are enclosed within a huge diameter spherical steel cage, and reach speeds of 60km/h while performing daredevil acrobatics. The deafening rumble of the motorcycles’ engines accompanies an amazing performance in which even the smallest mistake could prove dangerous.
